Choirs: in the Cango Cave, Klein Karoo; and Cape Town church, South Africa
I've always been a bit of a sucker for gospel choirs. I don't consider myself an overtly emotional individual, but somehow I always end up crying when I hear them. Don't know why; absolute nightmare for the eye make-up. Anyway, deep within the Precambrian (i.e. much older than me) chambers of the Cango Caves in Klein Karoo, South Africa, we were treated quite unexpectedly to this wonderful performance. I'm not sure why the choir was there that day, but as you might imagine they sounded amazing. Whilst I'm not sure the experience translates exactly to the recording, I hope you can get the idea.
A few days later, visiting a township church in Cape Town, I heard this incredible, uplifting singing. These voices will probably never be famous, but their talent far exceeds much of what you will hear anywhere.
