By way of introduction…

I’ve been around a bit. No sniggering, please. In fact, I’d like to get around quite a lot more, as there are many places I haven’t been to yet (ooh, er!). This applies both literally and figuratively, since even when firmly ensconced at home I like to take my mind on little trips here and there, visiting imaginary (for which read fictional) worlds and wondering whether they’re on the whole better than the real one. I also like popping off to pastures past and delving into history. So, you see, in this blog about my (ongoing) travels, I’ve given myself rather a lot of latitude (see what I did there?) as to what I can waffle on about. And I’m an exceptional waffler. We all have to be good at something.

I was going to put a quote here about reading and travel, something like St. Augustine’s ‘The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page’, but I expect everyone does that sort of thing. So, I won’t.
